Celebrating Women...for the Real World
Tuesday, September 20, 2005 Well What Do You Know? We Were All Right!

There was an unfortunate accident at Sheri’s house, where someone (and they shall remain nameless)…(and it wasn’t me) blew out a candle and the wax spattered all over the wall. I have done this but not THIS time. She has been getting advice all over the place and pretty much one extreme to another. I told her to put ice to it and scrape off what you could, others have told her to get paper towels and an iron (burgundy wax on white walls).

According to the October 2005 issue of Good Housekeeping we are ALL right. You are suppost to do the ice and scraping first then the paper towel and iron, so we shall see how it goes. They had some other interesting first aid for stains:

INK: Sponge the ink with rubbing alcohol until the color from the ink stops running. The ink will spread when the alcohol is applied. Launder as usual.

NAIL POLISH: Blot away as much as possible while it is fresh. Soak the stain in an oil-free nail polish remover that contains acetone. Launder as usual.

TOMATO SAUCE: Soak the stain in cold water. Sponge with dry cleaning fluid, then rub in a liquid laundry detergent. Launder as usual.

GUM: Apply ice or place garment in the freezer to harden the stain and scrape off with a dull knife. Apply dry cleaning fluid to any residue left and launder as usual.
