Rosa Parks Dies
Rosa Parks died yesterday evening at 92. She is known for being “The mother of the civil rights movement” when she refused to give up her seat on a bus in Montgomery, Alabama in 1955. Her arrest triggered a 381-day boycott of the bus system organized by the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr., who later earned the Nobel Peace Prize for his work.
History remembers her efforts benefiting and advancing African Americans. Here at Celebrating Women we also recognize her as an exceptional woman who also helped pave the way for all women. Her actions were extaordinarily brave in our real world.
