Celebrating Women…for the Real World is a weblog that introduces a fun perspective for women who are mothers, wives, friends and employees. Sheri and SuZan have been friends for approximately ten years with very different households. Sheri is a mother of three children from a previous marriage, ages 17, 15, and 12. She has been married to James (JK on the Run) for six years and has 3 step daughters. Sheri is currently employed as an office manager/bookkeeper for a law firm; member of the High School’s Booster Club and has been past PTO President of the area Elementary School. SuZan has been married for 19 years and has one 17 year old son (she swears he counts for 3). She is a therapist in the local school district; also a member of the High School’s Booster Club and is Advancement Chairman in a local Boy Scout Troop. They are both passionate about their lives and aim to bring different perspectives on various subjects and how life impacts everything we do. View my complete profile

Ready Are Not....Here They Come
We had to go out today and check on some homes for some friends of ours and Big G's mom's house to make sure they were OK. As you can see in the picture above it was a "ghost town". We drove on the feeder road on HW 290 because there was a line of about 10 police cars with lights flashing going onto HW 290.
His mom was at her home and she had power so we stayed and visited until our son called and told us we had power again. It is already starting; can you believe the traffic coming into Houston? This is going to get bad folks because I took these pitures around 3:00 PM traveling out-bound on HW 290. They are telling everyone not to come back just yet because we have no gas and EVERYTHING is closed. I am glad that we prepared for Rita and even more glad that it is over for us and that we had no damage. Even though I am proud of what we did to prepare, I will do some things differently next time. First thing is LESS JUNK FOOD. If it had been a real emergency, most of what I had would have been gone and we probably would have been in trouble by Monday evening.
